Restaurant Review – Cafe 28, Sandton

On the basis of their WiFi password, Cafe 28 rates themselves as having the best pizza in JHB. Finding the best pizza in any given city has become a bit of a mission for me, so when I got the recommendation for Cafe 28, and had the great company for a date, I went to check it out.

The dough was light and the crust filled with pockets of air while remaining crispy and chewy in fantastic proportion. The multiple Italian cheeses added to the toppings made the final product flavourful, creamy and downright delicious. As a lover of cheese seemingly comparable to a cartoon mouse, I was particularly pleased with this combination.

The spicy chilli oils in dropper bottles were a nice touch too. There’s something satisfying about being given the ability to administer your own level of heat with almost scientific precision. A few drops here and there brought a welcome bit of fire without overwhelming the other flavours.

The fine company I was able to keep on my visit meant that my evening was brilliant beside the restaurant. Being a lover of cheese that is seemingly comparable to a cartoon mouse, I was pleased that my dinner companion enjoyed the food too. There are far worse ways for two people to spend an evening at Cafe 28.

Good pizza and company can carry an evening on its own, but good service makes it considerably easier to sit back and enjoy the meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive, no doubt picking up on the great vibe at our table, which always adds some positivity to the experience.

Overall it was a great place to pick up quality pizza and they’re definitely in contention for the best pizza in Joburg. This ape recommends Cafe 28 when the pizza craving hits 👌
